86 - SCH, of course.

Subchorionic Hematoma. Buh-Bye St. Thomas. Hello SERIOUS bedrest until Monday morning when I have another appointment with my ob/gyn. I spent about 6 hours in the ER yesterday. Baby is fine. Baby is great, actually. Measured 8w4d (after measuring 7w3d on Monday). Heartbeat was 147. I got to hear it for the first time. But I have a "large" subchorionic hematoma which caused me to bleed yesterday - hence the trip to the ER. My ob/gyn was quite concerned by the size and recommended "serious bed rest" until Monday. Dr. S at CCRM sounded like he had more experience with these.

Shit. Seriously? Haven't I had my share of ups and downs in the pregnancy so far? How am I feeling? PISSED OFF.

Alex was on his way to Venice when this happened. I called him at 3:30AM this morning and had him get on the next plane home. He's home now.

My BF and her son, Aaron (coolcapcutie.blogspot.com) met me at the ER, thank goodness. Aaron was such a great distraction. He even got a little ride in my bed as they wheeled me to the ultrasound. She also came by this morning with some beautiful tulips, a Hollywood smut magazine, and a nice meal for Alex and I. Then my parents were here the rest of the day, pampering me and stocking my fridge. I felt very cared for by all.

Any experience with SCHs?

BTW - they drew my HCG yesterday. 95,000. I know this is meaningless without a follow-up (which we will do on Monday), but it was so surreal to see that number since we were at 190 at our last beta.

Ugh, I'm sorry you can't seem to catch a break! But, so happy that baby is good! You've definitely got yourself a little miracle in there, seems to survive everything thrown at it. Hang in there, it will all be worth it.

A co-worker had one and other than having to take some precautions (no exercise, no sex, taking it easy (she is an ER nurse) and more OB appts) everything was fine. Scary. But fine. Here's hoping your SCH is no different. Will be thinking about you & baby.

Let everyone pamper you! Don't lift a thing and just relax and take care of yourself and that little munchkin!

Dang girl, that totally sucks! JJ at Reproductive Jeans went through all this when she was pregnant. She had her boy a few months ago. She's on my blogroll, so check her out. I'm sure she would e-mail you if you send her a message. I'll dig it up if you can't find it. It will be alright. Hang in there!!

I do have experience with this- and my nurse at CCRM at the time said they are absolutely COMMON with ivf. She said she sees SCH in more than 50% of her IVF cases. She also said that she's never seen anyone lose a baby b/c of the SCH- she said she wasn't guaranteeing I'd carry the baby to term, but I wouldn't lose it b/c of the SCH. So, you are safe there. But it also made me be on bedrest too - not fun, but worth it! Sorry to hear about St. Thomas! But, it will be worth missing that trip too (though it won't feel like it at the time!). Glad to hear you have such great support and care!

I had a SCH at about 10 weeks. It was awful! I was convinced I was miscarrying...I was gushing blood. But here I sit, 26 weeks pregnant and everything is fine. You will be fine too! Best of luck!

Glad to hear your blog friends know of so many SCH success stories. This little one is super tough! Aaron and I were so glad to be there when we found the heartbeat (albeit with our ears to the door) but still a little peeved that we didn't get to see the pics of this miracle baby! We are thinking of you non-stop and sending some prayers too, just in case this kind of thing works :)

Welcome to my world. Although no one has been able to tell me how large mine is yet. 90% of these resolve on their own, with no complications. My nurse doesn't seem too worried about mine. Bedrest and lots of water is the thing. 80% of all IVF patients experience some kind of bleeding.

Hang in there and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Ugh I'm sorry things just can't be easy! BUT, you ARE pregnant and that is the main thing. Everything else is just annoyances--albeit big ones. But you can handle this, you've handled so much else. Rest up and let Alex do it all!! Thinking of you.

i know the feeling...i too had a very large SCH around 8wks... CCRM def took it more seriously then my OB! CCRM put me on bedrest until the bleeding stopped. you can read more in the above link... we def thought it was the end... i am 33wks now.. Try to rest as much as possible, pelvic rest and no lifting or tremuous work.. i basically sat on my butt for weeks til it resolved!
Hang in there... i know its nerve racking.. just let everyone take care of you!! and i would insist on monitoring it if your DR hasnt mentionted it. Best of luck to you! :) (((HUGS)))
